The Lord's Day Vs Mother's Day

We prayed for our mothers on the Lord's Day (last Sunday May 10th 2009)

Just think a little bit deeper as a true Christian
Think about Jesus, who is the Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2: 27)...Perhaps to whom the lord Buddha Gautama pointed Him to be the last Coming One (Pwin) after him (Gautama)
Think about how no Christian nation can escape from using Gregory Calendar today as follow

Before Jesus' Resurrection (just for comparison)
Monday  Tuesday   Wed   Thursday   Friday   Saturday Sunday/Sabbath Day
     1         2           3           4           5            6             7

After Jesus Resurrection (Today Gregory Calendar)
Sunday  Monday  Tuesday  Wednesday  Thursday  Friday  Sab/Saturday
     1         2          3            4                  5          6        7

Sunday then is a Resurrection Sabbath Day. But the meaning of the Sabbath has always been the same: True rest can only be found in Jesus Christ...Mark 11: 28-30

Think about how come the Seventh Day the First Day of the week (Gen 2: 2-3; Acts 20: 7; 1 Cor 16: 1-2)
Think about the Lord Jesus died on Friday
Think about the Lord Jesus of his resurrection after three days
Think about the first becomes the last, the last the first...so on

Think about the Sunday
As mentioned Sunday is the First Day of the week on the God-given Gregory Calendar for today,
It is a Day that on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day...Acts 20:7; 1Cor 4: 1-4; Rev 1: 10

In imitation of apostolic practice (not the Roman practice), we also gather on the first day of the week to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord from the dead and to find our rest in the work he has done (done by none of us)

Think about four distinct stages of Sabbath revelation.
The Creation Sabbath, the Exodus Sabbath (Exodus 20:8 remember-Deu 5:12-15 observe), the Resurrection Sabbath, and the Final Sabbath...Heb 4: 9
The first two stages are the Old Testament roots, and the last two are the New Testament flower and fruit
Here is a reminder for us that the OT is a preparation for the NT and the New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old Testament. Christians interpret the OT in the light of the New Testament as the Old Testament is a preparation for the NT

What is Sunday?
Sunday is the first week of the day.. The first day of the week is the Resurrection rest, the New Covenant Sabbath.
Sunday is a Christian Sabbath because our Lord rose on the first day. The Old Covenant Sabbath is transformed into the New Covenant Sabbath (or Lord's Day) by the resurrection of the Lord of the Sabbath from the dead. As a Redeemer, he appointed it to be a sign of the covenant of his grace. The Sabbath is now, and always has been, the Lord's Day!
There can be no other days on the Lord's Day. Or it is impossible to make the Lord's Day for our days such as mothers day, fathers day, Judson day, MCC day, MBC day, ZBC day, Sunday School Day and all the days that are to come yet., etc...Sadly, these have been become most likely a substitute on the Lord's Day. So now is the best time we have to be careful in a conservative way of seeking for the most truth among this perverted generation, liberally. Because God said, "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God...." (Exodus 20: 8-11). So if we do really want to set apart a day for mothers in a special way, then we can appoint one out of the six those are given to us. Yet it is another thing if we want to celebrate commemoration for our mothers only on the Lord's Day (Sunday). It's just ok we just pray for them on the Lord's Day. We give them gifts on the Lord's Day. But still Sunday is for the Lord's Day. Sunday is the Lord's Day.

How did we spent our last Sunday May 10th 2009?
Well. We spent last Sunday primarily to worship God in singing, in prayer, in reading the scripture and in listening to His Word being preached to us each in our Church and in Philippine Myanmar Christian Fellowship as far as the past Sunday (the Lord's Days) are concerned. Everyone of us knows that we are not worshiping the day. We are worshiping God in His own appointed day, a day that is the 7th day out of six. We have the six day with us. But the only one day of the first day of the week (Sunday) is for the Lord. And it is always be the Lord's Day. Neither mothers nor fathers day. Sunday is a day that is set apart for the Lord. So don't never forget if you are a true Christian that Sunday is the Lord's Day in which we can pray and celebrate for those whom we concern instead. It is nothing wrong though we celebrate our appreciation/ commemoration for mothers in the Lord's Day. But it has something become conspiracy of Satan when we fail to say Mothers' Day instead of saying the Lord's Day.. Because what you have used to say will conspire you from your Christian standing point. Thus you will be failing from keeping the Lord's Day holy. Because the Lord's Day is a day to listen his holy Word from the Scripture. It is a day for the Lord Jesus Christ not for men. The Lord's Day can be kept holy by way of Christ Center Preaching and by way of Christ Center Listening or by way of Christ Center reading the Bible. Paul said in Galatians 1: 10 that For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

It is not our mothers' day in which we worship God
It is the Lord's Day in which we can celebrate our mothers' being good to us. We want to express mothers' love and care for their children as a special occasion one in a year. And this special occasion falls on Sunday (the Resurrection Day) so that we can give thanks to the Lord on His Day for giving us good mothers who will care for us. It is not mothers' Day in which we worship the Lord. Rather it is the Lord's Day in that day we can celebrate and express our gratefulness for our mothers in return. Note: This special occasion (mothers' day) that falls on Sunday is appointed by men not by God.

It is the Lord day in which we celebrate and express our gratitude for our mothers in return
Thanks the Lord for granting us and enabling our hearts to be thankful for our mothers in His Day.
We prayed for our mothers and gave thanks to the Lord on His Day, last Sunday May 10, 09.
We thank the Lord for our mothers
But, let's also pray for those mothers and fathers with their sons and daughters who cannot worship God on the Lord's Day (Sunday) like those are in Middle East among Muslim and among the Jews especially those are under serious persecution.

However,
Let's us continue to say the Lord's Day as Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Heb 13: 8)

Let's not forget that it is still the Lord's Day even though we fail to say Mothers Day or Fathers' Day or...or...or. ..

Let's keep our tongues holy on the Lord's Day. Don't say something of such and such a day! Keep quiet! Sunday is the Lord's Day. It is none of us day. We are celebrating his resurrection on Sunday. A Sunday that has become the Christian Sabbath because of the transition point of Jesus' Death and Resurrection!

Yours in Christ,

Brother DAL
